Adding the finishing touch to your backed up movies in Media Center
I pretty much have it down to a science on how I can backup my movies to my Media Center Movie Directory so that all of my DVD’s are now available on demand from any of my Media Center Devices. The one piece that was missing was the addition of all of the Metadata about the movie that Media Center allows you to access if it has been collected for the movie. So in my endeavors to try to learn how to do this, I came across a great little program add-in for Media Center called Yammm (Yet Another Media Meta Manager). Yammm will automatically manage the metadata for the files in your specified directories. The program gathers all of its metadata from either themoviedb.org or thetvdb.com.
Yammm runs as a Windows Service and will download meta data, artwork, rename folders, rename files and\or create playlists.Yammm renames the directories automatically with the movie’s name and the year that it was released if you set this feature during the program’s setup. As you add new movies to your selected directory it will automatically create an XML file in the directory with the movie, renames the video file, will resize the folder picture or add a folder picture if you don’t have one and point to your data directory where it creates the metadata for Media Center. I repeat that this all happens automatically so you no longer need to worry about collecting the info for your movie it will appear magically for you.
The pointer above for Yammm will take you to mikinho.com where you can download the application. The author also has screen displays of recommended settings and that seems to work out real well. Enjoy!
