Logitech H800 Wireless Headset

I was looking for a simple wireless headset replacement for the headset I used on my home system. I thought would be nice to be able to work on projects while still being able to move around my office hands-free. My first test for sound quality was to get connected using Skype. I called home to my wife she reported to me that the sound quality was excellent and she didn't hear any background noise as well. This was very important because I use Skype quite often to call out when I am at home. Skype has great integration with our client management system and this makes it very easy for me to reach out and touch someone.
This is a Bluetooth headphone set so it can be paired not only with the tiny Bluetooth nano receiver that you plug into a USB port, but may also be connected to a smart phone or tablet by pairing it to those devices. I should be able to move up to 40 feet from the Bluetooth connection which is what I am testing right now. It appears that I don't have to have line of sight, but going through several sets of walls does attenuate enough to stop the connection.
There is a button on the side of the headset that allows you to switch between the Bluetooth circuit and the nano receiver so you can switch between devices using that type of function. By holding in the plus key on the right ear piece you begin the pairing process with any Bluetooth device. I paired it with my Microsoft Surface inside of two minutes. It was a very simple process.
The battery is rated to last six hours so there is plenty of talk and listening time between charges. If you are running low just plug the headset into a USB port and they recharge will begin and you can continue using the headset at the same time. The only issue that I'm going to have over time is that all batteries have a limited number of times that you can charge them and eventually I will have to dispose of the headset when it no longer can hold a charge. If you need replacement ear pads or a replacement battery you can get them on the Logitech website. Your pads and the battery are both five dollars apiece. If you loose your nano receiver you can get another one for $15.
It does have a noise canceling microphone so it should work fairly well even in a noisy environment. It only took me seconds to get connected to my Dragon NaturallySpeaking software and I didn't have to train it at all begin dictating to it accurately.
The nano receiver is a 2.4 GHz wireless connection and allows you to move up to 40 feet away from your PC without losing the connection.
The documentation states that it has a fold it go design but even though it does get smaller because of its heavy construction it does not fold as tight as my Plantronics unit did. But it does get a little bit smaller so it will fit into a backpack without a problem. The left ear piece opens up for access to the battery and also doubles as a storage compartment for the nano receiver so is available on your travels.
This unit retails for about $100. The warranty for the unit is two years. Sure to go to the Logitech website to register your unit after you have purchased it.

Logitech Introduces Light-Powered Protection for the New, Third-Generation iPad
New Solar Keyboard Folio Provides Hassle-Free Protection with Minimal Bulk

NEWARK, Calif. - May 3, 2012 - Today Logitech (SIX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI) announced the expansion of both its solar and tablet accessories lineups with the Logitech® Solar Keyboard Folio.
Made for the new, third-generation iPad® as well as the iPad 2, the ultra-slim, book-style case and keyboard offer stylish design with protection, featuring a built-in keyboard that's powered by light.

Similar to Logitech's solar keyboards for Mac® and PC, the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio includes onboard solar cells that charge the built-in Bluetooth® keyboard in any light, whether indoors or outdoors. When fully charged, the battery lasts for up to two years, even in complete darkness (based on a average use of two hours per day).

"Now that people are seemingly inseparable from their tablets, using them for everything from sending emails to watching videos, they want accessories powered to meet their needs," said Alexis Richard, director of product marketing at Logitech. "The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio is a smart partner for your iPad. Its sleek built-in keyboard uses light to charge and it provides hassle-free protection for your iPad – both for the front and back. It gives you an ideal way to use and protect your tablet without adding bulk."

The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio has two stand positions, so when you want to use your iPad you can choose the viewing angle that's best for you. Open the folio and place your iPad in the first position to enjoy the full keyboard when you're typing. Place your iPad in the second position and the first keyboard row acts as your one-touch media playback and volume controls, so you can play, pause and change volume instantly.
The folio also has an instant On/Off function, which means your iPad automatically wakes when you open the folio and goes on standby when you close it.

Pricing and Availability

Ten tips to keep you healthy and happy at work

This came to me from our Logitech Representative.

Whether you spend five minutes or five hours using your keyboard or mouse, these recommendations can help you stay comfortable and productive. So take a minute to read through these – and make sure you’re doing everything right!

Make sure that your workspace is set up properly.

clip_image002

  1. Put keyboard and monitor directly in front of you with your mouse next to it.
  2. Have your elbow next to your side.
  3. Adjust the height of your chair and table so that the keyboard and mouse are at or below elbow height.
  4. Place your mouse within easy reach so that your elbow can remain next to your side when using it.
  5. Have your feet well supported and your shoulders relaxed.

Keep your shoulders, arms, wrists, and hands relaxed and comfortable as you work.

  1. Let your arms hang loosely at your sides for a moment, allowing them to dangle toward the floor and to become relaxed.
  2. Try to maintain this relaxed feeling while you work.clip_image004
  3. If you have a palm rest, use it between keying tasks, not while typing. Using it while typing may increase pressure against the hand and increase the chance of injury.
  4. When you use your keyboard or mouse, avoid placing or supporting your wrists on sharp edges or on your desk.
  5. As you use your mouse, make sure that your elbow is next to your side. Keep your wrist relaxed and straight – don’t bend it up, down, or to either side. Keep your shoulders relaxed, do not hunch or shrug.

For more recommendations, check out our complete set of comfort guidelines.

Logitech Couch Mouse M515

2011-01-25_1312New mobile mouse from Logitech that is specifically designed for use on your couch, bed or carpet. The easy gliding bottom surface was designed to make it much easier to control your mouse movements when the mouse is being used in a non-desk environment, a situation that I find myself most of the time when using a laptop. It has a new hand detection system so that your mouse is only active when you are gripping it. So, when you shift on the couch or in bed and your mouse moves, the cursor doesn’t until you grab it again. This also helps with battery life as well.

Your couch is a place for relaxing. And sometimes, you just want to stretch out a little—especially when you’re surfing the Web on your laptop with your Logitech® Couch Mouse M515. That’s why we’ve designed this mouse so it’s only active when you want it to be—and not when you don’t.

The Couch Mouse M515 is special. Unlike most computer mice, the M515 only moves the cursor or scrolls a Web page when you grip it. (And your mouse automatically turns off—and conserves battery power—when it’s not on.) So while another mouse might turn every little slip, slide and bump into a runaway cursor or accidental click, tricky soft surfaces can’t push you and your cursor around with the Logitech Couch Mouse M515 with hand detection.

Battery life is important as well and with the use of it’s 2.4GHz wireless connection and the low profile USB connector you should expect up to two years of battery life. You don’t have to worry constantly whether you have enough charge or if you are going to run out of juice while on the road. Here are some of the features Logitech is touting as well:

2010-11-20_2057Okay, something new. I hate have to put batteries into my wireless devices and her is a device that takes the ambient light around your office setup and uses it to keep your keyboard up and running. Though I am a little late in reporting this… I think that this is a great concept to get one more worry off of my already so full table. To have a keyboard that is wireless and also have no worry  for having to provide it power seems like a God-Send. Thanks Logitetch. Now show me how you are going to do this with a mouse, too!

Logitech MK 710: a replacement wireless keyboard and mouse

I have fallen in love with my Logitech MK700 wireless mouse and keyboard and new with the introduction of the replacement in this series I am excited about this new product. I know, excited might be too strong a term but I really like two major improvements to the MK7XX design, Logitech has bundled their tiny proprietary USB receiver which limits the limits the possibility of damage that can occur to your computer or the dongle by inadvertently knocking into and and either destroying the dongle or the USB connection itself. The new design is very low profile as shown in the image to the right.

Logitech® Webcam C905

image We received a new Logitech® Webcam C905 and put it into use right away. We connected it on Jude’s desktop and setup Skype so he could make internet video call using this program.

The unit plugged right into Jude’s Windows 7 machine and instantly saw it and offered to download the device drivers off of the web. A minute later he was running.

This Webcam has a crystal clear image and really good sound quality. I am going to see how well it will pick up and recognize his speech patterns for use with voice to text recognition and will report back on that in a few days. I liked it so much that I am picking one up for myself as well.

I think that its quality is very similar to Logitech’s 9000 pro’s version and would not hesitate picking this unit up.

A few highlights: HiDef, Autofocus, Closeup, Universal Clip, Work with most IM applications, Built-in mic with Right Sound™, Carl Zeiss® Optics, 2 megapixel sensor and Right Light™ 2 Technology. There is also a fun feature available using Logitech® Video Effects™. It’s easy to spice things up with neon splashes, fish-eye distortions, and more.

To see more detail about these features go to this products Features Page.
