Camera Captures Thief!

image Right up my alley. I like the thought of unexpected incidents having a happy outcome though in this case the thief doesn’t get one because he gets caught. The scene: outside the Capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin. The Myers family had setup to take a family picture in front of the capitol building and Mr. Meyers had setup his camera to take a timed exposure while he ran to get into the picture with his family. He had placed his camera bag behind where they had setup to take the picture.

While this is going on a man comes strolling along and decides to take advantage of the situation while the family has their backs to the building and the camera bag and he takes off with it. This was a very unlucky would be thief because while he is bending over to grab the bag the camera timer goes off and he gets his picture along with the family.  image

When Meyers realized that his backpack was gone he ran inside the building to see if someone had turned in the bag but no one had. For a moment he was devastated. His wallet, money, credit cards, hotel keys, rental car keys and his iPad, along with some camera gear and some of the kids toys were all in this bag. Their holiday was about to be ruined. Then he realized that maybe when he was taking the picture he might have captured the thief on film.

Lo and behold there he was in all his grandeur. The alleged thief was there, clear as a bell, in his denim shorts, white socks and rather dirty actions for the police to see and now the world as well. It only took the Wisconsin police officers a few minutes to locate this culprit that tried to ruin this family’s vacation.
