iPhone Multitasking coming soon…

Steve Jobs and company showed off new skills for the iPhone today, such as multiple apps running at one time, plus services like background location and Internet calling, and a new advertising platform called of all things, iAd. The new operating system is going to have 100 new user features. They demonstrated seven of them today calling them their 7 pillars.
- Mult-Tasking
- Folders (changes the current limit of 180 Apps on your iPhone to a new high number of 2,160)
- Email – support for multiple exchange accounts and unified messaging inbox, organize by threaded conversations, or by date and the ability to open attachments with any app installed on your machine.
- iBooks-will be available on the iPhone and iPod Touch as well
- More features for the enterprise-better security, remote management of phones, Wireless app distribution (companies can push out custome apps over the air instead of rellying on an iTunes sync.) Support for Exchange server 2010, and SSL VPN support from Juniper and Cisco
- Game Center-taking a page out of Microsoft Live this is going to become a social game network for the iTunes crowd, with matchmaking, friend invites, leader boards and achievement tracking.
- Last is the new advertising platform called iAd that will be advertising built into OS4.0. They are planning on splitting revenue with the developers from these ad services.
