Microsoft’s Office Genuine Advantage program appears to have been shut down on Dec 17, 2010. Ed Bott wrote a great article about this program, what it did, and what it doesn’t change. You still need your 25-character product key to activate your product but you will no longer need to authenticate the product every time you add an add-in application to any of your Office programs.
