My wife made an interesting comment to me this weekend

Kathy has become another convert into the digital age. She spent the weekend reading Janet Evanovich’s new book Sizzling Sixteen on, wait for this, a Kindle…

For years she has said that she could not understand why I would prefer reading a book on a digital device instead of the real thing, but now she has gotten her first taste of using the Kindle I think we will see a lot more downloads in that format from now on in.  Kathy was surprised how easy it was to read and hold the device and maneuver through the pages. However, I did catch her trying to finger swipe the page turns early on. Since most of her reading was done around the pool this weekend she also commented how clear and easy to read the screen was in the direct sunlight.

The other thing that I like about the Kindle is the fact that it doesn’t overheat like the iPad does if it is in direct sunlight. It stays cool to the touch and you don’t have to worry about the unit overheating. Its interesting to watch how she is slowly accepting some of the digital products that allows us to enjoy books and other entertainment and communicate better with each other over daily chores that we share.
